World Cup 2022: The details
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is set to be unlike any other which has gone before. It is the first to take place while the European soccer season is in full flow and the tournament has never previously been held in the Middle East either.
These new circumstances will present fresh challenges to players and supporters, but also to bettors. It is impossible to know if the conditions will have any significant impact, but it’s worth noting that Liverpool andBayern Munich have both won the Club World Cup in Qatar in the last few years.
And a European nation has won the last four World Cups too, regardless of where they have been held.
The most notable absentees will be Italy, who were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by North Macedonia in a qualification play-off match.
Aside from the reigning European champions, the other 15 nations from the top 16 in FIFA’s rankings (at the time of the draw) will be in Qatar so there should be plenty of fiercely contested matches.
However, according to the Bitcoin odds, even some of the teams from the top 16 in the world are not deemed to have a realistic chance of becoming champions.
Let’s take a closer look at those countries that do, which will enable us to place an informed bet on World Cup 2022 with crypto at Cloudbet.
World Cup 2022: The key teams
· Brazil (5.56 favourites to win the 2022 World Cup. Bet using Bitcoin here)
Brazil topped the CONMEBOL qualification table with 14 wins and three draws from their 17 matches and reached the final of the 2021 Copa America too.
But they will have to overcome the same hurdle which has repeatedly tripped them up since they last won the tournament in 2002: western European opposition.
In the last fourWorld Cups, Brazil have been knocked out by France, Netherlands, Germany andBelgium respectively.
Brazil’s Seedings-based route through the knockout stage:
· Round of 16: Uruguay
· Quarter Final: Spain
· Semi Final: Argentina
· Final: Belgium
Brazil begin this tournament in Group G with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon and are strong favourites(1.11) to proceed from there.
Assuming they then beat Uruguay (who they defeated home and away in qualifying) it will likely be a date with Spain. Brazil’s recent issues with World Cup Quarter Finals (which have been their exit point in three of the last four editions) will not be easy to ignore.
With a spine composing the likes of Alisson, Thiago Silva, Casemiro and Neymar they undoubtedly have the talent to add a sixth star to their iconic badge though.
· England and France (joint 7.08 second favourites to win the 2022 WorldCup. Bet using Bitcoin here)
France and England are joint second favourites for the World Cup, which makes sense as they are the defending world champions and Euro 2020 runners-up respectively.
Question marks linger over England’s ability to win the toughest of matches. In both their semi-final at the last World Cup and recent European Championship final, GarethSouthgate’s side scored early but were unable to maintain control and ultimately lost.
Though they beatGermany on route to the Euro 2020 final, their other knockout wins in their last two major tournaments came against Colombia, Sweden, Croatia, Ukraine andDenmark. Hardly the strongest of opponents.
England’s Seedings-based route through the knockout stage:
· Round of 16: Senegal
· Quarter Final: France
· Semi Final: Belgium
· Final: Brazil
With this route to WorldCup glory, have the Three Lions got what it takes? Few squads are more talented but their tournament record suggests they’ll stumble somewhere before the final.
The odds in their elimination market imply they will go out at the quarter-final, and as they appear destined to face France, that’s no surprise.
France’s Seedings-based route through the knockout stage:
· Round of 16: Mexico
· Quarter Final: England
· Semi Final: Belgium
· Final: Brazil
Didier Deschamps’ defending champions are arguably the one country with a better squad thanEngland and they have the experience of glory from four years ago. But then history shows how hard it is to defend the crown, with Brazil the last country to do so way back in 1962.
Nonetheless, France would be a very sensible selection in the outright winner market, but who else might have a chance?
Next most likely2022 World Cup winners:
· Argentina and Spain (9.11)
· Germany(11.4)
· Belgium, Netherlands and Portugal (13.1)
While Croatia made the final last time out, few would have tipped them to at the start and it’s unlikely a team we’ve not yet listed will go the distance in Qatar.
Seedings-based SemiFinal line-up:
· December 13: Argentina vs. Brazil
· December 14: France vs. Belgium
You can bet onWorld Cup finalists in the ‘FIFA World Cup – Top 2’ market, where – as the outright odds suggest – Brazil are favourites with France behind them. A repeat of the 1998 final between those sides is hardly a revelatory tip but it remains an undoubtedly smart selection when betting on the World Cup with Bitcoin.

Top Goalscorer (GoldenBoot)
While the form of international teams won’t fluctuate wildly between now and the start of the tournament, it easily could for some of the front runners in the top goalscorer market.
Top five GoldenBoot favourites (bet using Bitcoin here)
· Harry Kane (7.66)
· Kylian Mbappe (8.51)
· CristianRonaldo (12.7
· KarimBenzema (13.5)
· Romelu Lukaku (14.0)
There’s nobody unusual in the top three in the betting, but Kane, Mbappe and Ronaldo could have easily changed teams between now and the time the action gets underway inQatar.
Will they have settled in to their new sides and scored plenty of goals for them in the first three months of the 2022/23 season? You would assume so, but it isn’t guaranteed.
With that in mind,Neymar Jr, at 16.4, could prove to be a good value selection as he is unlikely to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Top goal scorers in qualification in Europe and South America who will be in Qatar
· 12 goals: Memphis Depay, Harry Kane
· 9 goals: Robert Lewandowski
· 8 goals: Aleksandar Mitrovic, Neymar Jr, LuisSuarez
If Brazil go deep into the tournament as we expect then Neymar will get plenty of opportunities to add to his international tally.
