The English Premier League 23/24 season is fast approaching
The big question for the EPL 23/24 season is obvious: Can Manchester City do it all over again? Coming off last season’s phenomenal treble, the Blues have set themselves a high bar indeed to leap. Clearly, Pep Guardiola’s men will give it their all as they seek a record-breaking fourth straight EPL title.
Can anyone challenge them? Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal came close last season, and will be hoping to make the most of the £170 million they spent to lure Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.
Among the other giants, Jurgen Klopp has reshaped Liverpool after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season. Manchester United looks reborn after a promising debut season from manager Erik ten Hag. Chelsea on the other hand is looking to rebound from its worst Premier League campaign ever with a new manager.
Newly promoted Luton Town may provide one of the great stories of the season, competing in the EPL just 10 years after playing in the National League.

English Premier League 23/24: The key teams
The opening betting odds have Man City and Arsenal clear of the rest of the pack, with the reigning champions understandably the frontrunners. Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea round out the top 5 favorites.
Cloudbet's Favorite: Manchester City
Odds to win EPL: 1.72/-139 (favorite)

Manchester City enters the 2023/2024 season with the firm intention of maintaining their stranglehold on the English Premier League. Under the astute management of Pep Guardiola, the team climbed the treble mountain last season with EPL and FA Cup honors, and its first Champions League title.
While Erling Haaland will continue to garner headlines with his goal scoring, you can expect a squad bolstered by the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden and Rodri to deliver goals and mesmerizing performances.
Alvarez in particular bagged 16 goals in a hugely promising debut campaign last season. Meanwhile, Rodri maintains midfield order in a way that makes him irreplaceable.
Worth a Punt: Arsenal
Odds to win EPL: 5.53/+453 (second favorite)
The Gunners came close, oh so close, last season, pushing Manchester City all the way in the Premier League title race, and will hope to go one better in the new season.
Arteta, a one-time Guardiola protege, has added more options this summer, notably Declan Rice and Kai Havertz. Rice should give Arsenal’s midfield a youthfulness and drive that it’s beginning to lack. Also in the midfield, Havertz will be expected to fill the gap created by Granit Xhaka’s departure. Jurrien Timber will add versatility in defence.
Like other top-flight clubs, Arsenal will probably have to balance their EPL obligations with Champions League duties. Expect them also to be competitive in the FA Cup and League Cup.
The Dark Horse: Brighton
Odds to win EPL: 63/+6153
Roberto De Zerbi’s side is on a high after their highest-ever league finish last season, which qualified them for their first ever Europa League campaign. Player uncertainty (Brighton has lost Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool and others are mulling moves) has cast a shadow over RDZ’s squad in the lead up to the 2023/24 season but the club has a production line of elite young talent ready to step in.
Brighton spent a club record £30 million to sign Watford’s Joao Pedro, while winger Simon Adingra returns from Belgium, having scored 15 goals and assisted 15 more last season.
The arrival of veteran James Milner on a free transfer from Liverpool and Germany midfielder Mo Dahoud will add some much-needed experience alongside captain Lewis Dunk, who signed a contract extension in the summer.
Some pundits think Brighton is a superior team to Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea & Tottenham, while they’re streets ahead of other mid-table clubs that regular punters would assume are superior: West Ham & Aston Villa.
Likely to Go Down: Luton Town
Odds for relegation: 1.33/-305
Everybody loves a promotion story. The last time Luton won its way into the EPL was in 1982. Now, the focus is on whether Rob Edwards’ side can survive. The probability of that is slim, if you believe the odds, which have the Hatters as favorites for relegation.
Luton won its promotion last season based on a miserly defence, which will be tested severely every week by the EPL’s world-class attacks. That defence was underpinned by star goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who was on loan from Nottingham Forest and has since returned.
Still, the Hatters managed to lock in some Premier League experience in Marvelous Nakamba (from Aston Villa) and Tahith Chong (from Birmingham). It also has emerging talent Issa Kabore on loan from Manchester City. They will be key components for Luton to mount a successful EPL campaign.
Bet on EPL top scorer: Erling Haaland
The Manchester City striker is the favorite (1.63/-160) to win the EPL Golden Boot award for the second successive year and is widely regarded as one of the world’s best strikers, if not one of its best footballers overall.

Strong, tall, quick, good in the air and capable of scoring a variety of goals off either foot, he provides City with the option of a pure striker that had been unavailable since Sergio Aguero's departure in 2021. Haaland’s ability to score at an astonishing rate will certainly underpin his team’s title quest in the coming season.
Just one anecdote to illustrate his prowess: In March 2023, Haaland became just the third player in history – and the first for nine years – to score five goals in a single UEFA Champions League game as City handed RB Leipzig a 7-0 drubbing.
Bet on player of the year: Erling Haaland
Perhaps no surprise that the City forward is also the favorite for the PFA Player of the Year, an award claimed by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah last year.
Considering his performance and his contributions to his club’s historic season, Haaland will be hard to overlook. He is a clear favorite for line honors at 3.25 (+225).
His City captain Kevin De Bruyne is second favorite at 8.01 (+701). Salah is third at 11 (+1002).
