What does "This selection is correlated with another" mean?

Learn what correlated selections mean and what you can do instead.

Updated this week

This message appears when you try to place a parlay that includes selections that are tied to the same outcome or heavily influence each other. These are called correlated selections—and they’re not allowed in standard parlays.

Example

If you're betting on these selections:

  • Team A to score over 2.5 goals

  • Team A to win

These two outcomes are closely linked: If Team A scores over 2.5 goals, there's a high chance they also win the match.

Why correlated selections aren’t allowed

Parlays are meant to combine independent outcomes to keep betting fair and odds accurate. If the results are linked, the odds no longer represent the true probability of the combined outcomes.

What you can do

If you see this error message, you have a few options:

  • Remove the selection that’s correlated with another selection.

  • Use Bet Builder to place a same game parlay

  • Place single bets
