NFL Week Three: The Best Football Bets

A couple of surprises stood out in week two, which otherwise went more or less as predicted in the NFL. The spell was broken for the two reigning conference champions, as both the Patriots and Eagles lost under the relentless Florida sun. The heat is on, and so without further ado we present you with the best football bets on week three.

Jets @ Browns

Under 39.5 points (1.93)

Thursday night games have a history of being scrappy and poorly played affairs. Sam Darnold looks like he will be the QB the Jets have been waiting for, since Broadway Joe suited up for Gang Green but he will struggle in this game. The Browns defence is hugely talented, will give him little time to set himself in the pocket and will stuff Crowell and Powell at the line.

On the other side, the Jets defence is also good. Combine that with the Browns struggling RB corps, Njoku not hitting his stride, and Tyrod Taylor just keeping the seat warm for Baker Mayfield, they may struggle for points as well.

It's not often the Browns are favourites to win a game and they could well find another heartbreaking and unique way to not win this one, but going under on the points seems the most plausible play.

Bills @ Vikings

Bills +17 (1.95)

The Vikings will win this game without a shadow of a doubt as they are a good team and the Bills aren't. However, 17 points is a huge margin to give in a league where just a few plays can make a huge difference.

In the past 10 seasons there have been 20 teams with a 16 point or more spread to cover and they have only covered it 8 times.

The Bills are going to go with their rookie QB again this week and he will face about as tough an outing as possible against Minnesota but there are too many variables to be confident backing any team to cover a spread of that size.

49ers @ Chiefs

Over 56 points (1.95)

The Chiefs have the best offence in the league right now with Patrick Mahomes playing at an MVP level over the first two games, throwing for 10 TDs and 0 INTs.....on the road. This will be their first home game of the year and the Arrowhead crowd will be loud and proud. The 49ers defence isn't strong and will be easily overmatched by Hill, Kelce and Hunt, all of whom can decimate a team by themselves let alone in a pack.

The 49ers also have a good offence with multiple weapons able to attack a very poor Chiefs defence, which will struggle to stop a nosebleed let alone a Jimmy GQ led offence.

This has the hallmarks of an old fashioned shootout and even with some regression to the norm for KC, they will still be able to score big and concede big.

Ready to start betting? You can bet on the NFL in three simple steps:

Chargers @ Rams

Rams -7 (1.96)

The Rams look like genuine Superbowl contenders with a ferocious defence and an offence that can move the ball effectively. The Rams will nullify Keenan Allen and Mike Williams out wide so the Chargers will have to rely on a West Coast offence style of play and passing to Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler out of the backfield. They may also try and utilise Antonio Gates from TE but it's debatable how much mileage he has left in the tank at this point.

The Rams offence runs through Todd Gurley who looks like his usual powerful self and without Joey Bosa, the line will be able to double team Melvin Ingram and keep Goff upright. This gives the Rams a big advantage, which they should utilise to cover the spread.

Patriots @ Lions

Patriots -6.5 (1.90)

Bill Belichick never loses to his former assistants and Matt Patricia has struggled out of the gate with rumours abound that he has already lost the Lions locker room.

The Patriots are fantastic at rebounding after a loss, since 2016 they have won every game and covered every spread in the game after losing. They have a point to prove after losing to a fantastic Jaguars team but the reason they lost is because the Jags put Brady under pressure all game. The Lions do not have the ability to do this and Brady will carve them up all game long in what will be a one sided contest.

As we dig deeper into the season and teams gather steam, we're due to start seeing more and more patterns as winners try to put distance behind them, and bloodthirsty contenders only inches behind. At Cloudbet, we offer staggeringly high limits and some of the best odds around, so that you can add another layer of excitement to American Football's ultimate tournament.
