Ultimate European Glory: The 22/23 Champions League
Real Madrid continued their dominance as Europe’s most successful club with a record 14th European trophy. Despite not being favored after a lacklustre domestic campaign, Los Blancos claimed an upset win over Liverpool in the final after Knockout Stage victories over PSG, Chelsea and Man City.

Madrid won’t be one of the betting favorites this year following an underwhelming summer of limited transfer activity. English Premier League champions Man City (3.50) are the heavy favorites, followed by PSG (6.00), Liverpool (6.50) and Bayern Munich (7.00).
Contenders for the Champions League 22/23
Man City (3.50)
Pep Guardiola’s Man City begin the Champions League season as sizeable betting favorites following their epic final-day Premier League triumph last season. With free-flowing attacking football and a strong defensive spine, City are well equipped to claim the first Champions League title in their history.
Despite several important names, including Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus, departing in the summer, the Sky Blues have strengthened significantly with the addition of free-scoring Erling Haaland, midfield engine Kalvin Phillips and Argentine youngster Julian Alvarez.
On their day, Man City look unbeatable and have already handed out a few thrashings to Premier League sides at this early stage of the season. Frontman Erling Haaland has set a new record of 10 EPL goals in 6 matches and will lead the charge for European glory.
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) - (6.00)
Having reclaimed domestic glory in France last season, PSG come in as the second favorite to win a much-sought Champions League trophy. The Parisians have disappointed in Europe despite high hopes for their expensive squad in the last decade.
PSG have held on to their biggest stars this summer and boast perhaps the most feared frontline in world football, with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe leading the line. They have also shored up their midfield and backline with the additions of Vitinha and Nuno Mendes from the Liga Portugal.
There are still doubts over PSG’s big-game mentality, with 8 of their last 10 Champions League runs end at the Quarter Final or Round of 16 stage. However, PSG made it to the final in 2020 and semi-final in 2021, suggesting improvements in this regard.
Liverpool (6.50)
Talk of a famous Premier League and Champions League double was on the lips of every Liverpool last season, but unfortunately the Reds fell at the final hurdle in both competitions. Last season’s Champions League finalists are the third favorites to win it this year at 6.50.
Liverpool had a mixed transfer window that has left some fans underwhelmed. Despite splashing big money on frontman Darwin Nunez, the Merseyside outfit lost forward talisman Sadio Mane and failed to strengthen in midfield or defence.
The Reds are still extremely dangerous on their day and have a knack for performing in the big games. If they can keep most of their squad fit, Liverpool are in with an excellent shout to bring home their 7th Champions League trophy this year.
Bayern Munich (7.00)
It may come as a surprise to see Bayern Munich as the fourth favorites this season. Bayern have won two Champions League trophies in the past decade; however, other than their 2020 triumph over PSG, Bayern haven’t reached the final stage since 2013.
The German giants have made some big moves in the transfer markets, recruiting Matthijs De Ligt and Sadio Mane, along with youngsters Mathys Tel and Ryan Gravenberch. However, the loss of Polish talisman Robert Lewandowski could prove to be the difference-maker on Europe’s biggest stage.
Real Madrid (10.00)
Last season’s Champions League winners are instated as the fifth favorites to win it this year. Not many fancied Real last season but they got the job done, embarking on arguably the most difficult Knockout Stage run in Champions League history before defeating Liverpool in the final.
Madrid have replaced Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro with the young and talented Aurelien Tchouameni and also made a key defensive signing in Antonio Rudiger.
Dark Horses - Outside Bets to Win it
Barcelona - (21.00)

While Barcelona may be in turmoil financially, a club of their stature will always be in with a shot to win the Champions League. Finishing as runners-up to La Liga and Champions League double winners Real Madrid domestically, Barca still boast a squad of world-class talent.
If you can look past the backroom disruption, Barcelona at 21.00 is a fantastic bet. Fortunately for the Catalans, they were able to register their new signings, including Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie, Raphinha and Ferran Torres, for the Champions League despite initial doubt.
Chelsea - (28.00)
Chelsea are another side who have a knack of turning up on the big stage. The London side have won the Champions League twice in the past decade (2012 and 2021), along with two Premier League trophies.
Following a big money takeover, Chelsea have invested heavily this summer, recruiting the likes of Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella, along with a deadline day deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
AC Milan (50.00)
AC Milan secured their first Serie A title in over a decade last season and are in with a good outside bet for Champions League glory this year. Milan have lost a key player in Franck Kessie, but made some shrew signings over the summer, including Sergino Dest, Divock Origi and Alessandro Florenzi.
If there is an area AC are lacking, it’s in the forward department. The Milanese side were only the fourth highest scoring Serie A side last season, although their sturdy defence will serve them well against the big boys if they make the Knockout Stage.
The Golden Boot - Top Scorer Picks
Erling Haaland - Man City (4.00)

The Norwegian wonderkid has already banged in goals by the dozen for Man City in his first month at the club. Haaland is odds on to finish as this season’s Champions League top scorer and will be part of a strong side likely to reach the latter stages.
A two-footed, lightning quick and powerful presence, Haaland can do it all and has already scored 19 goals in 23 Champions League appearances in his brief career.
Kylian Mbappe - PSG (7.00)
Kylian Mbappe is a lethal talent who has managed 33 Champions League goals at the age of just 23. The French speedster finished last season as PSG’s top scorer with 39 goals in all competitions and has already netted 7 goals in 5 domestic games this season.
Surrounded by sensational creative talent in the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar, expect Mbappe to lap up their world-class service and finish near the top of the scoring charts.
Karim Benzema - Real Madrid (8.00)
Despite his advancing years, Karim Benzema is still getting better after enjoying his best ever season last year. The Frenchman powered Real Madrid to Champions League glory with 15 goals in the competition last year, topping the scoring charts ahead of Robert Lewandowski (13).
Benzema has been in hot form already this season with a return of 3 goals in 4 La Liga games. If you think Real Madrid will do well this season, expect Benzema to be amongst the goals again.
Cloudbet Selections:
All Premier League Final: Yes – (4.03)
Considering the frightening array of talent lighting up the Premier League this season, betting on an all Premier League final at 4.03 could prove a shrewd pick.
Man City and Liverpool have been a dominant force in Europe for years now, while Chelsea’s heavy investment and Tottenham’s consistency under Antonio Conte could make the Istanbul final an all-English affair.
Top Goalscorer - Mohammed Salah (15.00)
While the obvious choice for top goalscorer this year is Erling Haaland, if you fancy an outside bet then Mohammed Salah is a great pick. The Egyptian is still at his best and has finished top scorer of the Premier League in 3 of the past 5 seasons.
Given Liverpool’s tendency to do well in tournaments, a fit and firing Mohammed Salah could easily rival the big boys Haaland and Mbappe for the Golden Boot this year.
